KOURAGEOUS KIDS ART PROJECTS

2014 Kourageous Kids Art Calendar Quilts are ready

2016 Update - The Kourageous Kids Art Calendar project, part of the Balding For Dollars and the Childrens' Hospital Foundation, has been replaced by
the new BEADS OF COURAGE Project....click here for ways to participate or more info...

The Calendar is made up of artwork of children with cancer and blood disorders, and their siblings. The Langley Quilters' Guild members make quilts for these children based on their artwork and present them with the quilts at a special event. The special day for the presentations is June 24, 2014, 6:00pm at BC Children's Hospital. Everyone is invited to attend and share the love that goes to these children with the quilts.

The Kourageous Kids Art Calendar gives supports to the children and to the Balding For Dollars Project, part of the Children's Hospital Foundation.

Beneath each Calendar pages is the quilter's rendition in fabric.

Just after Xmas my friend was entering a local supermarket, it was cold wet and damp. Outside was a little girl called Emma with her mom selling calendars to raise money for the Cancer and Blood Disorder Clinic at Children’s Hospital. She stopped and talked to them and Emma explained how children had painted pictures and they had been made into the Kourageous Kids Calendar. My friend bought some and then gave me this lovely gift. After looking thru it I was touched and decided to make a quilt using a picture as inspiration. Then I thought it would be nice to ask my fellow Guild Members to join me in fulfilling this challenge.

If you would like to make a quilt, or wall hanging based on a picture please email: lqgmember@hotmail.com and I will send you back a larger picture with all the details and a little note that each child put with their picture.

Should we have more volunteers than pictures we will be given more pictures from other children that I am sure would love a keepsake like this.

The quilt or hanging can be no bigger than a standard width of fabric (saves having to piece the backing) but would prefer no smaller that 36” x 36” for the lap quilt and 25” x 25” for a wall hanging.

I would like to present these quilts on one of the following dates if possible.
Completed in May and presented in June
Completed in June and presented in July
Completed in July and presented in Aug.
Please let me know which date would suit you best.
