TABLE RUNNER - STAR(8 inch blocks)

Block 2
I have again given you 3 choices for your block construction so that you can use your favourite method.
1: templates
2: rotary cut
3: paper piecing
I recommend using the paper piecing for this block It makes your piece go together quickly and precisely.
You can use whatever paper you have on hand, thinner paper works best such as newsprint (if all you have is regular printer paper you can use that too, just use a shorter stitch length to perforate your paper).
For instructions, you can check out
you-tube site
or
Carol Doak site

I have included 3 choices for construction - Valorie F.
1: templates
2: rotary cut
3: flying geese method To do the flying geese block, you will need to cut 4 pieces 2 1/2" X 4 1/2" and 8 pieces that are 2 1/2" square.
You can watch a you tube video by Pat Sloan . She demonstrates 2 methods of making this block. Both methods are good, I prefer using the method starting with a rectangle and adding a square block to each end.
My challenge to you is: Using the basic star pattern provided see what you can do to make it different. Eg: some embroidery either hand or machine or some other way to dress up this block. You can choose to use a 12" block instead.

Join us in sewing the BOM!

• Every month a new instruction sheet is provided for the next month's block
• Guild members construct the block during the month and then bring to the next meeting
• For each block submitted you enter your name in for the draw
• All blocks are displayed at the guild meeting
• The more blocks you make the better your chances to win and keep the blocks for your own creation.

Joining in is a good way to develop skills if you are a beginner or make a fast & easy project if you are more experienced. You can, at the same time, make a block for the monthly draw and some more for the Guild's Community quilts.
