Anniversary Party

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Just sitting here chuckling to myself again about the fun we had at the party……remembering Louise doing sound effects (maybe she will cut a CD), thinking about the one act play on Rita and Sven getting up on guild mornings, what about Liz and Bonnie making puppets? play beach volleyball. Those were some of the best laughs we’ve had in a long time. Also good food and a fantastic slide show with lots of quilts from our shows and lots of guild members pictures. Recognition of our executive of the current and past years and thanks to Joanne, recognition to all those that work so diligently for the guild somewhat behind the scenes. I met many new people and am so glad they came.

Let’s hear a real rah rah both for our guild and our committee that put this event together, it was over the top. Congratulations Langley Quilters Guild…….I think you are the friendliest guild!

Veggie Bags

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

While at the veggie store at the weekend, I noticed all the plastic bags being used for all the different fruits & vegs.   I am going to see what I can do to make a lightweight sturdy bag that could be washed and reused to put the items in and save the land fill of all these bags.   I was thinking of the fabric used for windbreakers.   I will make some up and take to our local deli to get them weiged empty to see if they weigh much.   Even if it cost a cent or more to start with I am sure it will be worth it to save the earth.  Come on Ladies see what we can do !!!.  We could start a new trend.

Facebook.com “Quilters of British Columbia”

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Hi everyone,

I imagine that some of you are Facebook users. I have opened a group called “Quilters of British Columbia”.

The intention is to expand our quilting knowledge,  share our experience, be inspired, inspire others, show off your hard work and have fun! See what trends are going on in other areas of the province.

Post pictures of your work. Work in progress. UFOs. Projects that have you stumped - request suggestions.

Join the group. It will be a 24/7 quilting connection. Invite your quilting friends…especially the ones that live outside of Langley.

This may also draw new members to join our guild.

Recycle Challange

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Well done Tammy for taking up the challange and making a wonderful quilt from old sweaters.  Tammy got some old wool sweaters, boiled them and cut them into squares.  Presto she had a lovely quilt that the family love.   Well ladies who is next. Anyone else up for the task.  Maybe I should take the challange too and see what I can do.

Happy Quilting
