Langley Quilters’ Guild

So we have a blog! People are asking me, what is a blog? So I thought I would do a little reading up on it and now that I know what it is, I thought I would pass on some of my thoughts.

We started our guild 5 1/2 yrs ago and I thought to myself how excited I was to be part of a brand new guild in my backyard (well not quite), and how excited I was to be meeting so many new people who love to quilt like I do. I wanted to volunteer for the membership table so I would be sure to meet everyone and welcome them to our guild. The number of people has grown every year and now when I walk around Langley or go to quilt events, I am always running into these wonderful people I met at the guild.

Every year the guild is looking for fresh individuals to volunteer for positions and this year is no exception. There are a number of spots available, like helping with the tea & coffee, taking snapshots, selling spots for the between workshops and looking after our publicity events. They don’t require post-secondary education, they don’t require special training; they only require the same skills we use everyday to organize our lives and an enthusiasm to keep our guild going.

So what’s in it for you, you ask? Just the opportunity to meet everyone in the guild and build the best friendships ever to carry us through the ages! and to give a little back to the organization that pulls us all together.

If you are able to participate in any of these areas, or if you want to share it with a friend, let Sunny, Lana or Rita know. Then you too will be able to recognize all those quilters out there and say I know you from the guild!

The viewer’s choice award went to Lana K. for this beautifully hand appliqued quilt with hand stitched border, called Affairs of the Heart. Most of the fabrics are batiks. She spent 2 years working on it, so no wonder how it turned out. Lana also received the CQA rosette for best in show. Congratulations Lana!

Congratulations to all. Our quilt show was a huge success. I hear people saying our quilts are the best, the way we display them is wonderful and the variety is fantastic!  I keep getting these comments ………what have you heard?
